Charging Speed and Range of the ID.3
A full battery is expected to last for 550 kilometers before requiring a charge. It will also have fast charging capabilities, so drivers don’t have to wait long. At 100kWt charging output, the battery will be able to travel up to 290 kilometers after only half an hour of charging. Volkswagen announced that the standard model will be for sale for less than 30,000 euros.
The ID.3 is being debuted with the world’s first MEB platform. MEB stands for modular electric drive matrix, which was designed to maximize driving range while keeping electric costs for the driver minimal. While we won’t go into detail on how MEB works, it is very innovative for the electric vehicle market.

Unfortunately, the Volkswagen ID.3 will not be released in North America. This vehicle was designed for the European market in mind as those citizens push for more environmentally friendly modes of transportation.
Although we won’t see the ID.3 in the United States, it’s possible we could see others enter the country years from now. The Volkswagen ID.3 will be the first of the upcoming family of electric vehicles. Hopefully, once electric vehicles gain more popularity, we may be able to see future Volkswagen electric models here in Santa Monica.
