Whether you live in West Hollywood or you make your home in Culver City, you and your family rely on your environment to provide the food, water, and air that keeps you healthy, whole, and safe. That’s why we support the Environmental Media Association and all they do to help keep our world green.
Who Is the EMA?
The Environmental Media Association in Beverly Hills, CA is one of a handful of Los Angeles non-profits whose focus is on protecting the environment. The EMA is made up of entertainment personalities, green icons, entrepreneurs, and technology icons, each devoted to spreading the message of environmental protection and the importance of living a more sustainable lifestyle.
What Does the EMA Do?
Like all sustainable non-profits, EMA spends a portion of their time raising funds for their many programs, some of which include:
- Green My School: EMA garden program aims to teach children about the importance of organic gardening and helping to bring community gardens to schools across the country. These gardens not only provide an essential teaching tool, but they also give the children access to fresh fruits and vegetable as well.
- EMA Green Seal: The EMA Green Seal program honors sustainable production and those companies ready to go the extra mile to ensure their productions help, rather than harm the environment.
- Impact Summit: EMA brings together corporations, scientists, influencers, start-ups, and public personalities to brainstorm new ways to bring innovative solutions to environmental problems to the public.
- Messaging: EMA uses the latest messaging platforms, including social media, podcasts, and PSAs to connect with the public and drive home the message of sustainability and spread the message that our efforts are having a positive impact.
Since the Environmental Media Association was founded in 1989, their message of hope and help has reached millions worldwide. And, with more high-profile faces joining the cause every day, they will continue to be a major influence on environmental issues for decades to come.

At Volkswagen Santa Monica, we’re well aware of the ecological importance and natural beauty of our waters. That’s why we’re proud to work with organizations like Heal the Bay, to help protect, restore, and maintain our coastal waters, so they can be enjoyed for generations to come. Learn about Heal the Bay here at Volkswagen Santa Monica, an LA Car Guy Dealership.
What is Heal the Bay?
Heal the Bay is one of Los Angeles’ most active nonprofits, dedicated to the protection of the region’s water assets. Heal the Bay protects the region’s water assets by fighting for stricter, more effective environmental protections and by educating the public on the benefits of using water resources wisely. Heal the Bay’s current projects include:
- Advocating for Water Recycling. By processing and recycling wastewater, cities can reduce their ecological footprint.
- Monitoring Water Quality. Heal the Bay monitors 450 Santa Monica-area beaches each week, testing for the presence of bacteria that could be harmful to human life or sea life.
- Empowering Communities. By teaching communities about the importance of local watersheds and campaigning for sensible restoration of damaged habitats, Heal the Bay aims to empower the people of greater Los Angeles.
- Beach Clean Up. Heal the Bay has helped remove more than 2 million pounds of waste from local beaches.
With these and other projects, Heal the Bay seeks to make real change and help keep local Los Angeles beaches safe for people and wildlife.
How Can You Help Heal the Bay
Heal the Bay is a remarkable organization, but they can’t do it alone. In order to keep projects going, they need help from volunteers like you. Some of the ways you can help with their mission include:
- Organize. Helping to organize or participate in cleanup projects can keep tons of trash out of the water and off the beach.
- Donate. 81 cents of every dollar donated to heal the bay goes to pay for programs that help to spread the word and build a cleaner L.A.
- Speak. Whether you live in West Hollywood or in Brentwood, you can still spread the word by speaking to friends, sharing on social media, and passing the word.
