It’s that time of year again, where we get to marvel at all of the changes to our favorite Volkswagen models for the new model year. With the SportWagen arriving later in the 2015 model year, it receives only a few changes for 2016. That being said, the 2016 VW Golf SportWagen new features and release date sure leave us with a lot to get excited about, so let’s dive in.

Drivers have been paying close attention to the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interface technologies for some time now. The two systems make smartphone integration in vehicles easier than ever, and now it appears that Volkswagen will be one of the first to incorporate these systems into its vehicles.

The 2016 SportWagen receives the new MIB II infotainment system on a 6.5-inch touchscreen, featuring USB connectivity and VW Car-Net App-Connect. This means that most 2016 model year vehicles from VW will have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities.

For the 2016 model year, The Golf SportWagen’s Driver Assistance Package will come with the following features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control

  • Forward Collision Warning/Autonomous Emergency Braking

  • Lane Departure Warning

  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert

  • Park Distance Control

  • Parking Steering Assistant

In addition to the above changes, the SportWagen now has a standard rearview camera and cloth seats for S models. Like we said, there are plenty of changes to look forward to from the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen new features and release date information is not far behind. Though no official dealership arrival date is available, 2016 VW models are expected to begin rolling out anytime now.
