| Testimonial: | My experience started with comparison shopping here for a Jetta and while I didn't get it here because the price was the highest of the bunch (figured as much since SM probably has high overhead just due to location), I did come here for service since it is convenient. What started as convenience became complete satisfaction when I saw the price. My previous car was a Toyota and the service was never really less than $100 (even for the minor service - basically an oil change) at Toyota of Hollywood so I was pleasantly surprised at the $65-ish (tax included) price tag for the first service (and cheaper for the next service). Although I do love cars, I am not a mechanic so my measure of how good a service department is at a dealership is based on whether the car is running well after service. Since my car is running in tip-top shape, I have no complaints. |

I am happy with the service and if anyone tells you that owning a VW and service/maintainence is cheap then its a lie. Compare it with the costs of a BMW or MB and you are much better off. JD will squeeze you in for urgent attention and takes pride and gives personal attention to your VW problems. A gentleman. The Sales Dept. I would never recommend, that's why we bought our two Passats from Livingston VW in Woodland Hills. SM VW is "extremely" not competive as far as sales of cars. Sucks. I recently bought a 3rd VW for a friend of mine from another VW dealer as Santa Monica VW was not competetive at all. They were overpriced a lot. You figure it out. Every time I have given them a chance to sell me a car they have failed so far. |

| Testimonial: | About a year ago, I decided to buy my first car. This was a big step in my young life. I first went to a dealership closer to where I lived, they looked at me, decided I was too young and wasn't actually going to buy a car, so I didn't get a minute of their time. I went to another dealership, they were a little better, though they had no one on staff that knew how to work the navigation system..... while I was talking with them about buying a car, my buddy was calling other dealerships to see if we could get a better deal... VW Santa Monica was one of them.... My friend gave VW Santa Monica my info and within an hour a sales person called me and set up an appointment for the next day. When I arrived, I was greeted and taken to see my car of choice. They knew ever detail about the car (even how to work the navigation system) ... it was great. I then decided that I was ready to buy..... that process, though intimidating, was easy and painless. Bridgett took great care of me and even helped me find a better loan after she realized that I didn't have enough credit to get a good loan from VW. So helpful. She even went out to my trade-in, turned it on, heard the CD in the player and said that I had to bring her a copy then next day when I came to get my car... loved her!!! As far as service, I don't think anyone is happy with car service (like cell phones or cable TV).... I've had no problem getting an appointment at a decent time and they always fixed whatever it was that needed work....... I have, though, had a major problem with the AC stinking that they have yet to take care of.... other than that I wouldn't go anywhere else.... if you want to VW buy it from them!!! |

| Testimonial: | Each time I come here, I end up having long conversations with their service people. Not about my car, but about pretty much everything else. Last time, I talked to someone about hockey videos on youtube for 10 minutes. Everyone here is so nice and accommodating and friendly. They also draw you diagrams when you look at them funny for rattling off the names of car parts you don't understand. This is quite frequent for me, so my service guy usually fills up a few pages with sketches of pistons and spark plugs. They also know pretty much everything about VWs to the point where you wonder how they know anything else about the world. I have an old Jetta (1994), so it does have problems every so often, and they are very knowledgeable about how to fix these problems. They generally do it in a timely manner (over a day or two). They also have a free shuttle service, which is SO convenient when you drop your car off and need to get back to work/home within an hour but don't want to rent a car. I've knocked off a star because it is really expensive, I won't lie. But as a young woman, it is so important to have a place to take your car that you can trust, and I definitely trust everyone I've worked with here. |

| Testimonial: | I had to bring my car to VW Santa Monica today as the check engine light was going on and off. (An independent inspection had told me that the catalytic converter needed replacing). Prior to leaving my car in I had also called VW Customer Service and found that the Emissions Warranty covered the car for 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever came first). I make an appointment with JD Dotson in VW Santa Monica. He was very professional and very helpful. He took all the details of the car, even down to the name of the garage that serviced my car. He let me know that they would perform the diagnostic check and we'd figure it out from there. He said if the catalytic converter needed to be replaced and it was covered by the warranty then they would go ahead and do the work. To make a long story short, it was covered. I was very satisfied with the level of service that JD offered and would recommend you ask for him next time you make your appointment (by phone or on-line). If anyone has had good customer service ANYWHERE please take an extra 5 minutes to let people know. I myself am a Customer Service Manager and know that people are quicker to write negative reviews. It really makes our day when someone takes time to call or email to say 'thank you for a job well done'. |
